Essen/Alzenau, 22 September 2016. On 20 September 2016, the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate of Lithuania (VATESI) granted an operating license for the interim storage facility for spent fuel (ISFSF) at the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. This operating licence is a major step towards the decommissioning of Ignalina NPP.
Alzenau, 15 January 2016. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan have awarded a contract of four Feasibility Studies to NUKEM Technologies (NUKEM). The Studies are part of a National R&D Project, which the Japanese Government launched in order to develop suitable technologies for the dismantling of the damaged reactors in Fukushima. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will be a major contractor to perform the execution works on the Fukushima site.
Alzenau, 24 June 2015. A NUKEM Technologies GmbH (NUKEM) led international consortium has been successful in securing the first project within Iraq in the field of Nuclear Safety to support the safe disposal of low and intermediate level waste (LILW).
Alzenau, 26 May 2015. Indonesia’s national nuclear energy agency BATAN awarded the contract for Phase 1 “Preliminary Engineering Design” for a 10 MW (th) Experimental Power Reactor based on the HTR Module Design with spherical fuel elements to the Consortium called RENUKO. It comprises Indonesia’s PT Rekayasa Engineering, PT Kogas Driyap Konsultat and NUKEM Technologies. The duration of the project is 7.5 months. It will be implemented by an international team of about 45 experts.
The companies NUKEM Technologies GmbH, ALD Vacuum Technologies GmbH with the subsidiary ALD France S.A.S. and E.ON Technologies GmbH have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The purpose of the MoU is to set forth the framework under which the companies could work on a concept for local melting services to recycle radioactive metallic waste of shut down nuclear power plants.
