NUKEM, a Muroosystems Company, Defines Its Technical Role in Nuclear Cooperation with Central Asian Partners
NUKEM Technologies Engineering Services GmbH (NUKEM) has clarified its role as a technical implementation and engineering partner within a series of international cooperation frameworks promoted by its parent company, Muroosystems Corporation, in collaboration with partner institutions in Central Asia.
These initiatives are being advanced in the context of the Japan-Central Asia “5+1” Leaders’ Summit, held for the first time in December 2025 in Tokyo. The cooperation focuses on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, nuclear safety, radioactive waste management, engineering consulting, Owner’s Engineer services, and the development of resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure.
Overview of Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) and Related Projects
In the Republic of Kazakhstan, Muroosystems Corp. cooperates with the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of a joint declaration of intent on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and radioactive waste disposal. The objective of this collaboration is to enhance nuclear safety, strengthen national capacities in radioactive waste management, promote human resource development, and support alignment with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) standards. NUKEM contributes to these efforts through technical assessments, engineering support, and expert consulting services.
Acting as international experts, NUKEM and Muroosystems will support long-term cooperation in Kazakhstan’s nuclear sector through engineering consulting and Owners’ Engineer services. This collaboration builds on a strategic partnership MoU signed by NUKEM with the Atomic Energy Agency of Kazakhstan on September 9, 2025, expanding a trusted framework for cooperation.
In the Republic of Uzbekistan, Muroosystems Corp. works with the Agency for Nuclear Energy (Uzatom) under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan based on a memorandum of understanding covering cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. This collaboration focuses on nuclear safety, regulatory support, technical consulting, and Owner’s Engineer services for nuclear-related projects. NUKEM provides technical consulting and evaluations in accordance with international best practices and IAEA requirements.
In addition, Muroosystems is supporting a pioneering SMR-powered data center project in Uzbekistan, exploring the integration of Small Modular Reactors with digital infrastructure. The project targets an approximate power demand of 50 MW, supplied exclusively by SMR-generated electricity. By combining nuclear energy with digital infrastructure, the initiative aims to establish a stable and predictable electricity supply for data centers while enabling efficient utilization of nuclear power generation capacity. The project demonstrates a new model linking energy infrastructure and digital development, highlighting the practical and flexible application potential of SMRs in power-intensive facilities..
NUKEM contributing through technical reviews and safety-oriented engineering expertise.
