Incineration facility for Waste Treatment Centre at Khmelnitsky NPP in Ukraine

30 November -0001

Contract

NUKEM was contracted to design and supply an incineration facility for the waste treatment centre to be built at Khmelnitsky NPP in Ukraine

Apart from the incineration facility, NUKEM shall also supply a sorting and fragmentation facility and a high force compactor to NAEK.

Description

The waste treatment centre will allow processing all types of low and intermediate level solid waste generated at Khmelnitsky NPP. Thermal and mechanical techniques will be deployed to decrease the volume of waste to be further conditioned into a state suitable for final disposal.

The incineration facility is expected to process existing and currently generated solid and liquid combustible waste. Oil/water emulsions to be incinerated are transported to the incineration facility by the customer in very small containers and are fed in small quantities with the solid waste into the incinerator.

The generated flue gas is treated in a way that the emitted hazardous substances do not exceed the limits set by the Directive 2000/76/EU on the incineration of waste. Ash and spent sorbents from the off-gas treatment are delivered to the compaction.  Scrubbing solutions are given back to the NPP for further processing.
