Cadarache/Alzenau, 12th June 2018. ITER is a tokamak under construction in Cadarache, France. Its goal is to demonstrate the feasibility of producing energy by fusion reaction of Deuterium and Tritium. The machine should generate first plasma in December 2025. Before construction is even finished, the deactivation and dismantling was analyzed already.
Ignalina/Alzenau, 13th October 2017. After Lithuania’s Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) was granted industrial operation license for the Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility (ISFSF) – B1, in April 2017, as well the successful start of the B2-project, Solid Waste Retrieval Facility (SWRF) in June 2017, the next major decommissioning milestone for Lithuania has been achieved.

Ignalina/Essen/Alzenau, 18th October 2016. On 14th October 2016, the Ignalina NPP Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility (ISFSF) in Lithuania was officially inaugurated by placing the first spent fuel cask for storage.
Essen/Alzenau, 22 September 2016. On 20 September 2016, the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate of Lithuania (VATESI) granted an operating license for the interim storage facility for spent fuel (ISFSF) at the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. This operating licence is a major step towards the decommissioning of Ignalina NPP.
