In 2019 the consortium of NUKEM Technologies and Uniper Anlagenservice was awarded a contract for the dismantling of two reactor pressure vessels at Oskarshamn and two reactor pressure vessels at Barsebäck.

The dismantling is performed consecutively, starting in Barsebäck and then moving on to Oskarshamn to ensure important synergy effects in the project implementation.

In the beginning of July 2020, the site preparation at Barsebäck 1 was completed on schedule, with two major areas of focus: preparation of the site and commissioning of all equipment and components needed for the dismantling work.

The main equipment, including

  • a flame cutting facility
  • a drilling device
  • a sliding mechanism
  • an air filtration system
  • a lifting beam
  • a tool platform for thermal cutting

were successfully delivered and handed over to the Customer in August 2020.

In week 42, the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) of the main equipment was successfully conducted together with the customer. Only the air filtration system will undergo acceptance testing later, together with the SAT of the asbestos working area, which is planned for end of October / beginning of November 2020.

The first cut of the reactor pressure vessel will take place in the second half of November 2020.
