With the successful acquisition of NUKEM Technologies Engineering Services GmbH (NUKEM) by Muroosystems Corp., a new era begins for both organizations. In this interview, Nobuaki Ninomiya and Thomas Seipolt share insights into the strategic direction, market priorities, and the shared ambition to drive innovation and growth in the nuclear industry.

An Interview with Nobuaki Ninomiya, Executive Board Member of Muroosystems, and Thomas Seipolt, Managing Director of NUKEM, on the Vision and Future of NUKEM:

Thomas Seipolt: The acquisition of NUKEM has been successfully completed. Could you share your thoughts on this acquisition?

Nobuaki Ninomiya: Thank you. This acquisition marks a new beginning for both of us. We believe we can further leverage our expertise in the fields of nuclear facility decommissioning and radioactive waste management in Muroosystems' markets in Central Asia and Asia, as well as in NUKEM's strong markets in Europe and Eastern Europe.

Thomas Seipolt: Indeed. NUKEM's technological capabilities are very attractive. What is your vision for future developments?

Nobuaki Ninomiya: We want to further strengthen NUKEM's existing strengths in nuclear facility decommissioning and radioactive waste management. At the same time, we are eager to actively engage in new areas such as nuclear fusion technology. We will continue to innovate in line with the global transition towards sustainable energy solutions.

Thomas Seipolt: That's an impressive vision. What are your thoughts on expanding into the Japanese market?

Nobuaki Ninomiya: We recognize that the Japanese market is very important. However, we first want to solidify our position in Western and Eastern Europe before considering new synergies. We plan to actively expand into the Asian market first, and for Japan, we are considering an alliance-based approach.

As a first step, we have decided to release a Japanese version of NUKEM's decommissioning video. Going forward, we intend to collaborate with NUKEM to localize into Japanese various systems for decommissioning and radioactive contamination cleanup that are being implemented overseas, on a monthly basis.

Thomas Seipolt: We are very much looking forward to that. Before we wrap up, could you share your perspective on NUKEM’s team and their role in this new chapter?

Nobuaki Ninomiya: Of course. NUKEM's employees are our greatest asset. Their dedication and expertise form the foundation of our success. We will continue to invest in the professional and personal growth of our employees and aim to maintain high levels of engagement.

Thomas Seipolt: Thank you. We at NUKEM, together with Muroosystems, look forward to contributing to the development of the nuclear industry in Japan and Asia. We look forward to working with you.

Nobuaki Ninomiya: Likewise, thank you very much. We are excited about building a wonderful future together.
